I live at Blk 90 Zion Road, #03-28, in the stretch between River Valley and Kim Seng where the river path is part of how you get anywhere. I am not a writer by trade. I work in admin for a small logistics firm near Commonwealth, which means most of my day is forms and phone calls and the particular quiet of an office when everyone is at lunch.
DailyRipple started because I kept noticing the same small things and forgetting them by morning. A cup ring on formica. Rain finding a drain behind the block. The way sound widens when you hear it from far away. I wanted a place to put those observations before they dried up — not as lessons, not as advice, just as records of what one person saw from one flat on one road.
My neighbourhood is ordinary in the best sense. Zion Riverside Food Centre for lunch when I cannot be bothered to cook. Kim Seng Bridge when I walk to Robertson Quay instead of taking the bus. Great World MRT when the weather turns and I need shelter. The back of my block after rain, where water makes rings in the grate until the sound thins and stops.
I write in first person because that is the only honest way I know. I do not speak for my neighbours, my block, or Singapore as a whole. If something in an entry is wrong — a shop name, a detail about a street — tell me and I will fix it.
The main article on the home page is different from the rest. It is a memory of an evening I do not fully understand, and I have kept it plain about what I do not know. Everything else is smaller: drinks, walks, lift buttons, rice bowls, drains. That is the scale I am comfortable at.
